the time of the year

Monday, December 6, 2010

oh yes, this is my favorite time of the year. I know it's not just me, it's almost everyone. We always have this feeling that we want to give gifts, no matter how big or small they are.

today I went to the world bazaar with my husband, and I was at awe everything. i think my list doubled! and the highlight: i bought a bag and tons of swarovski accessories from Momy Carol, the mother of Juday! hahaha! I can't help buying from her cos she was actually "selling" them to me.

So happy I bought so many things (most of them were favors for my mom though) for others. :)
Christmas really is, the spirit of giving!

today i am happy.

today I am happy because I got may first, yeah you heard it right, my FIRST ever paycheck! Not that big though, but its the product of my own hardwork. and it really is mine. Next thing, shop for father's day. Get that L he really wants.

today I am also happy because andre is doing good in school. Second day in school and he got two stars for being a good boy in class. His teacher said he listens attentively. proud! haha!

Lastly, I am just happy my day went on smoothly. That includes the absence of some primadonnas. :)

Sunday, May 16, 2010

It has only been two weeks since my last blog and yet a lot has happened in that short span of time. Lemme do a lil recap of the big, yes big change!

May 4- Big day! I signed my roll of attorney and became a full-pledged lawyer. Got my IBP card too! Not to mention my first job interview on that day. To end the day, celebrated the good news with with friends and brethrens from the M family.

May 5 - Went to PAO Central to submit my job application.

May 7- Went home to Boracay for the elections and to get andre. And a job exam early that day.

May 11 - Back to Manila with Andre, for good this time.

May 12 - Got my first job as a lawyer. Albeit temporary 'cos it's project-based, still a good-paying job though.

May 13 - My first day of work. whew! Good thing my panyera friends misch and ayet were my batchmates and everyone at the office were so kind and accommodating, they didn't give us a hard time.

May 14 - enrolled Andre at St. Paul Makati. Yeah, we have a schoolboy now.

Now that we've started, i hope this goes on well and really good. :)

sunday

Sunday, May 2, 2010

today is sunday.

Me and Jeff planned on going out of town weeks before this day came, too bad it didn't happen. Too many things to do over the week, too many errands, and too lazy to go out on a sunday...again.

Last night before going to sleep, we agreed to wake up early, around 7 am. We'll go jogging around the park. I woke up on time. My partner, well...still sleeping. I woke him up, but all I got was "mag-jogging ka mag-isa mo!" Got irritated at first, but since I was still a bit sleepy, went back to bed again. At 8am, his alarm rang. Ohmygulay, 8am pala sya nag alarm para sa jogging namin. And he didn't know that he shouted at me when I woke him up. He thought daw that he was dreaming and my mom was around and that he didn't want to wake up. So we jogged anyway.

At 11am, we left for brgy rizal in makati. fetched the in laws, and visited his brother in antipolo. I cooked spaghetti and meatballs for them, by the way. Glad the loved it. :)

Back at home, we decided to watched a last full show of Iron Man 2 at greenbelt. Ayun, tinamad na naman yung kasama ko. So we did not go nalang.

Then I browsed for some PAO ideas. Uhuh, I am applying. Now I want to be a PAO lawyer. I decided I can only feel that I am a real lawyer when I will be with the PAO. I got my recommendation by the way. Thanks to the dads at PAO manila and NBI. I got my first NBI clearance without a sweat, and it was not even at the Carriedo Office! I love being a Daughter. :)

I found this blog, meronakongkwento.i.ph, about a lawyer who's now in PAO. She talked about her step by step application. And it moved me. After reading her blogs, I started writing my autobiography for practice. She said they'll ask you to write one in 10 mins. I finished mine after two hours. That was practice though. I'll try to post it next time, errr think about it whether to post or not. hehe

All for now. Got to sleep. goodnight
.

one to go

Thursday, April 29, 2010

I just had my oath-taking as a lawyer yesterday, april 28, 2010. The second to the last step before i can call myself as a full-pledged lawyer. While reciting the lawyers oath for real this time gave me goosebumps! I said to myself that finally I am going to recite it not for recitation or bar exam purposes, but because I AM GOING TO BE A LAWYER NOW. The feeling is indescribable. It's as if this is the moment we have all been waiting for. And finally it happened. Now I can say that, in the presence of my c0-candidates and the parents, and loved ones, and before the Supreme Court Justices, I have taken, with all my heart, the LAWYER'S OATH.

Listening to Justice Nachura's and Chief Justice Puno's speeches made us all feel proud or ourselves. I say to ourselves, because indeed the journey of becoming an attorney is a path that depends mainly on the person alone. Of course with a little help from our friends, loved ones, and relatives, and guidance from the Great Creature on High, this moment would not be so sweet without them.

There are people however that I would like to thank. Those who did even the simplest of things, but inspired me through my bar review:

1. the guards of LPU, kuya elmer, kuya jo, and manong al, who bore with us through those late night studies at the bar crib;
2. The people of starbucks valero who open their doors 24/7 when i needed a place to study. Especially kuya guard who told me that I will pass the bar because the place is lucky. thanks so much!
3. Rejean, my. Gosh she was a big help! From buying my starbucks drink in the morning when i was too lazy to go out of the house to even buying my highlighter at national bookstore.

The others, my friends who took the bar, especially Misch Eli and Ayet, and my study buddies Camilo and Leonard, who had been my exclusive social network during the bar review. That's true, they were the only friends I constantly talk to with. And to my study buddies who will not study without the other at bar crib, thank you for being my kape and vitamins--you kept me going. haha! To Camilo especially for the last min tips, pare you are a blessing!

Last and most of all, to my husband Jeff. For all the sacrificies, for keeping it up with all my tantrums, for being my financier (aside from my mom, of course!) who gave me most, if not all of my cravings, my buying my entire wardrobe for the 4 sundays of the bar exams, my backpack included, and for being the "dakilang alalay." Oo na, inalila ko na sya, but i promised I'll make it up to him.

One more step to go, the signing of the roll of attorneys, then i can finally put that ATTY. before my name. :)

to spoil or not to spoil

Monday, April 26, 2010

Been busy spending time with the family over the weekend. As usual, when mom arrives, we would either be at the mall shopping or eating out. Good thing I learned not to tag along in all the shops she goes to.

Either way, we had a blast. If spending time alone with andre in the room watching Tom and Jerry dvds all day (which we did last Friday and almost every single day in Boracay, and we never get tired of laughing at those repeated episodes!!) is happy time, what more if he tries to make you feel extra special.

This is what happened. Thursday morning, they arrived. I was sleeping in my room when he suddenly shout "MOMMY, I'M HERE NA!" He told me about his trip and how he was soooo happy being in Manila. Then lunch. Rested for an hour or so, then off we go to the mall. Since the yayas where so excited to shop (my mom gave them 500 pesos each for shopping), I let them go on their own. My mom and sister separated, so it's now me and andre alone. We went to some shops first, to look for a dress which I'm going to wear on the 28th. Then Toy Kingdom. Goodness gracious! I wish my wallet was loaded that day. He was sooo spoiled he knew how to choose his toys. And mind you, they were expensive. He wanted to buy a Game Boy! Fortunately, he settled down with a toy soldier robot, some balls, and swimming gears.

Just right before paying, he saw some barbies. Yep, you read it right. He remembers his promise that he'd buy me one. He said that if buy him a toy, he'll also buy one for me. He insisted on buying the one with the doll house, but I said no. I told him that I don't need toys since I'm a big girl now. We went home with no barbie.

Later that night, I realized what if I paid for that barbie? Not only would I make him happier, it would make me happy too. haha! I want that doll for myself now. :) So next time we go toy shopping, I'll promise not to spoil... the moment!

with the lyce people

i had another chocolate fire blast yesterday.

while i was feeling the "bum thing" again yesterday (tinatamad na naman akong gumalaw-galaw), atty. camilo, my study buddy from law school suddenly called up. told me he took the day off to get his clearance from SC then we meet up. what started as a short chit-chat (which i thought would end up after an hour or two since i also planned on going shopping afterwards) ended me forgetting that my jeff was waiting for me at the mall at 9pm. haha!

we had of course the usual kamustahans. talk about how things are going on with our lives and other peoples lives. :) (syempre hindi mawawala ang chismis) atty. jun2- the super busy guy, of course lost tooooooo much weight, and i'm envious!! but one thing new is that now we get to give some advice to our friends who are going to take the bar this year. it may not be the best advice or the best formula for a review, but i'm happy we could share our experiences on how we hurdled the greates battle of our law school life-the bar exams!

thinking of the past, feels like it was just yesterday when we were just first year students at san beda law school, when we were sooo "like-a-virgin" in the study of law, (yes, iba talaga feeling ng first year and being in the senior year), i feel proud that at 26, i am now a lawyer, a wife, and a mother. to top it all, i'm happy in all of them. haay, i just smile at everything that has happened.

the big question now-where do i start? where to look for a job, start a career, and be a career woman forever. :)

will i see you in court?!

chocolates and barbies

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

hello!

welcome to my new and third blogspot since i lost my first two to memory lane.

i bet you're wondering why i named it chocolates and barbies, eh? if you're a close friend then you prolly know the answer. yes! i'm a sucker for chocolates. you name it, chocolate cake, truffles, hot choco (hmmm my son loves this!), iced chocolate drink, choco ice-cream, milk chocolate, and my fave of 'em all, dark chocolate! give me chocolates and i'll love you forever. haha! exagg!

and why barbies? well i just named it after son. to remind myself that there is one cute innocent little person in this world who loves me and would go the "extra mile" to make me smile always. every night, he would "build" (he uses his carpenter tools) me gifts before we sleep and say "happy birthday mommy, i love you!". then one time, he was watching cartoon network and saw the barbie commercial, asked me if barbies are for girls only. i said yes. from then on, he would remind me always that he'd buy barbie for me as a gift. :)

therefore this blog would mostly be about my life as a mom and a career-lawyer-to-be.

let's talk it over coffee... and chocolates!

ciao!
